In Northern Woods does not sell personal information. This page explains what the site currently does and what we track. We use privacy-focused self-hosted services as much as possible.
What In Northern Woods collects
In Northern Woods uses a self-hosted Umami analytics service ↗ to understand page visits and outbound-link clicks. It records anonymous usage details such as the page and referrer, browser, operating system, device type, approximate country, and the destination of a clicked external link. Umami does not use cookies, collect personal information, or track visitors across websites. The analytics data stays on Rockroot's own service, and the tracker respects your browser's Do Not Track setting.
Journal pages use the self-hosted Waline commenting system ↗, and an account is required to publish a comment. Waline may collect and store the account information you provide, your comment, IP address, browser User-Agent, and related service information so it can operate and protect the comment service. See Waline's privacy information ↗ for more detail.
The Field Notes and Posts page republishes selected public Instagram posts and comments from the In Northern Woods account. Displayed names, comments, reactions, and media were already public on Instagram when collected.
If you email In Northern Woods, your message and email address are used only to read and reply to your request.
Cookies and advertising
In Northern Woods does not currently run advertising or use advertising cookies.
If advertising is added in the future, this page will be updated to explain the partners involved, the information they use, and any consent or opt-out choices available to you.
Third-party content
Some pages link to services such as Instagram, Umami, and Waline. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and may collect information when you visit or use their content.
